5 Choreography
Figure 1 shows the choreography of Sales/Usage Reports that are exchanged between the various types of entities during the process of reporting sales and/or usage data, acknowledging receipt of such Sales/Usage Reports and invoicing for the use of sound recordings, music videos or musical works embodied in the releases or resources that were sold and/or used. The Sales/Usage Reports created in accordance with the DSR standard enable the reporting of such sales and/or usage data.
Figure 1 and Table 1 describe the point in the relevant business processes when the Sales/Usage Reports are generally exchanged. Table 1 also indicates who usually sends which Sales/Usage Report to whom. The DDEX standard messages that enable the process of claiming rights in musical works by licensors, as shown in Figure 1 and Table 1, are defined in the Claim Detail Message Suite, but are out of scope for the DSR standard. Similarly, the invoicing process which is a result of the rights claiming process is out of scope for any DDEX standards.
The use of an acknowledgement message is optional. Its syntax is not defined in any part of the DSR standard.
