7.19 Reporting no Sales and/or Usage
It may be that the licensee wishes to send a Sales/Usage Report created in accordance with the DSR standard to the licensor indicating that there have been no sales and/or usage during a particular reporting period. In order to communicate this, the Sales/Usage Report shall comprise four parts:
One
HEAD
Record as defined in the relevant profile and in Part 8 of the DSR standard;
One or more summary Records as defined in the relevant profile and in Part 8 of the DSR standard. The number of summary Records will depend on the terms of the bilateral agreement between the licensor and the licensee (see below);
No Record to describe sales and/or usage; and
One
FOOT
Record as defined in the relevant profile and in Part 8 of the DSR standard.
If the licensee wants to send an "empty" sales and/or usage Record in a Sales/Usage Report having previously sent a “non-empty" Sales/Usage Report, it is recommended that the licensee includes a summary Record for each of the sales and/or usage contexts provided in the Sales/Usage Report that was previously sent. This approach is not recommended in cases where the licensee has stopped a specific service but only where the licensee expects to report positive sales and/or usage data at some point in the near future. The licensee and the licensor may, however, agree a different approach.
The image below shows a Sales/Usage Report created in accordance with the DSR standard containing an empty sales and/or usage Record:
